Austerman Family: I'm slowly learning that so many of the unfortunate situations that I imagined would happen when Zay was born with PKU are in fact happening. Today Zay's snack was accidentally forgotten on his school field trip. I'm also learning that God is SO perfect...He blessed my kiddos with patience, understanding and discipline! He knew just what characteristics they would need to handle their challenges. I'm so proud to watch Zay respond with an "It's okay" when he learned his snack was forgotten. While a lot of kids might find it difficult to be denied a snack, both Zay and Ellie didn't make any complaints as we waited while everyone else had their crackers and milk. And another blessing...that I was along to see it happen! I'm so grateful that I have the privilege to go on the field trip...and that next time I'll be prepared with a backup snack in the car! :) #pku
